Visit cities Kharkiv, Svyatohorsk, Artyomivsk, Donetsk, Mariupol. Spend 7 days touring about North East of Ukraine - the area of highly developed industry, plenty of natural resources and perfect conditions for farming. This land used to be the motherland to Scyphians, then it gave shelter to a number of Slavic peoples who are more commonly called Russians. Since old times, these territories border with Russia, and are strongly influenced with Russian culture and mentality. Even today, when Ukraine is an independent state with Ukrainian being an official language of the state, local population of the East still speaks Russian. You will have a chance to explore a combination of the Soviet Union style of life with innovations of the independence years. Your tour will begin in one of the largest cities of the country - Kharkiv (Kharkov), which is also called the intellectual capital of Ukraine for its numerous universities and research institutions. On your way to the South-East, you will have a chance to enjoy picturesque nature and holyfied centers of Orthodox faith - the Slavyanohorsk monastery complex. Then, you will proceed to another large city of Donetsk, which amazes with its fast recent growth and will offer a number of great entertainment centers and night life establishments, along with the most unusual but extremely interesting industrial tourism sightseeing. Mariupol, another industrial city to the east south, will attract you with its port and the resort area. It successfully combines two missions of being an industrial and a recreational center of this region.
Itinerary:
Arrive to . Sign in to your hotel. After some rest, be ready for a walking excursion about the central city.
Visit the biggest square of Europe - Svobody square, walk down central street through Shevchenko's park, take a look at beautiful fountains and flowerbeds which are so typical of this city. You will visit picture galleries, museum of arts, souverirs market and see a number of beautiful monuments which commemorate various events in Kharkov's 350 years long history. Have dinner at a central city restaurant. In the evening, you will have an option of visiting organ hall, a theater or one of many night clubs.
Day 2
You will be offered to spend this day in Kharkiv. The program of this day will be active but enjoyable and informative. You will visit the WWII memorial and then walk about the central park; they you will have a choice of visiting a number of places - a big city market, to have an excursion about one of the Kharkiv plants, or to visit a university and meet students and teachers. You will have a chance to socialize with local people, to make new contacts and to develop a good vision of the city lifestyle and rhytm of life. You will also have a choice of activities to take in the evening - you can visit a theater, anconcert show, a jazz club or a night club with bowling, billiards and other entertainment places.
Day 3
Have breakfast in the hotel. Sing out of the hotel and take the bus trip to visit historical places of , a small provincial town which has witnessed many significant historical events. You will visit museume of Izyum and stop for a great lunch in one of the local restaurants. After lunch, the bus will take you to , a monastery and church complex which is situated in a picturesque place on the bank of the river Severskiy Donets – the biggest river in Eastern Ukraine. Admire beauty of the surrounding nature and mysteries of the ancient monastery. You will have time for a little picnic in the magnificent nature od Seversky Donets river.
Day 4
Have breakfast and sign out of your hotel. Before leaving Svyatohorsk, you can attend a morning service at church or have a stroll about the beautiful hills and riverside. Then, your bus will take you on to the area of Artyomivsk - an industrial town in Donetsk area. You can visit the most unusual place - the salt shafts, where you will learn about the indusrty of salt mining and attend a recreational area of Artyomivsk salt treatment center which is especially useful for people with lungs diseases. You will also walk about Artyomivsk, visit Svyato-Mikhailovsky cathedral in the city and have lunch in the central city. Then, you will take another bus ride to Donetsk. You will arrive to Donetsk in early evening and sing into a central city hotel.
Day 5
Spend full day in - one of the largest industrial megapolices of the country. Take some free time after you sign into your hotel and be ready for a walking excursion about the city before dinner. Your guide will show you around the city center, tell you general information about the city and you can decide which of the nightlife entertinment plaaces you would like to go to in the evevning. The city was founded in 1872 by a Welshman, John Hughesan, who started ironworks to produce iron rails for the growing Russian rail network. Fueled by the rich deposits of the Donets basin, both coal mining and steelmaking developed rapidly. Extensive destruction in World War II led to postwar modernization, and subsequent growth has been rapid. Modern Donetsk is one of Ukraine's largest metallurgical centres. It is becoming an attraction for Western investors these days.
Day 6
Have breakfast and sign out of your hotel. Proceed to a trade and industry center and port of the the Azov sea Mariupol. You will arrive there by midday. Sign into a central city hotel and, after taking some free time, you will have an excursion about the city. You will walk about central city and walk along the port area and then to the seaside and along the beach. Take pictures of the city and the port in the evening.
Day 7
Have some free time in Mariupol, when you can do shopping, go to the beach or relax in one of the nice cafeterias at the seaside lane. You will be offered a number of optional excursions about the city, to your choice. In early evening, you will sigh out from the hotel and proceed to the airport or to the station, to proceed to your next destination.
